Eating and Groceries:
Snow’s grocery store is in Mercer. It closes at 7 pm. There is a Dollar General in Mercer and a Walmart in Ironwood (about 40 minutes away). Note: There are various restaurants that stop serving food by 7 or 8 pm in Mercer so go early.
Rentals
- B&B Adventures – UTV (And Snowmobile starting in 2022) rentals in Mercer
- Coontail is a good resource for rentals, including fat bikes, snowshoes and skis.
Outdoor Activities
- Hwy G (the hwy that you take to the cabin) is not busy, especially if you turn left out of the cabin driveway. So, if you want to go walking or running, I would recommend going left and taking the road for Horseshoe Trail. They don’t always plow Horseshoe Trail right away so be prepared if it has snowed.
- The ski resorts are north towards the UP in Ironwood and surrounding areas—probably a 35-40 minute drive.
- There is a lot to do in Ironwood/Hurley area. For XC skiing or snowshoeing, check out Miners Memorial Heritage Park in Ironwood and WinMan Trails in Winchester. WinMan Trails also have fat bike trails.
- There is a bike path in Ironwood that is groomed for XC skiing. The MECCA ski trails in Mercer are also great for XC skiing and snowshoeing.
- North Lakeland Discovery Center in Manitowish Waters has a 12-mile trail system for skiing and snowshoeing.
